Our client’s unique request involved the discreet installation of a door sensor, specifically designed to facilitate seamless access for waitstaff carrying food and items. The challenge was to ensure the door opened automatically upon their approach while preserving the uninterrupted view of the dining room. Additionally, it was imperative that the sensor seamlessly blended with the kitchen’s interior design.

Challenges
Several challenges were encountered during this project, including:
- Mounting the sensor at the bottom of the door, a non-traditional placement.
- Customizing the sensor to detect movement from a shorter distance.
- Concealing the sensor to harmonize with the kitchen’s aesthetics.
- Establishing a connection between the sensor output and the villa’s automatic door motors.
Solution
To meet these unique requirements, we implemented the following solution:
- Installed an Autonics BEN300/DFR sensor discreetly within a 10×10 cm enclosure at the bottom of the door.
- Integrated a smoked glass panel in front of the sensor to ensure seamless concealment and alignment with the kitchen’s interior design.
- Adjusted the sensor’s settings to detect movement from a closer range, ensuring swift response to waitstaff.
- Connected the sensor’s output directly to the villa’s automatic door motors, enabling the door to open automatically as wait staff approached.
